I’m up WAY past my bedtime, but after finishing the uber-secret DragonCon costume details tonight, I finished my Baby Bobbi Bear.
Olaf and Jeff are still working on the Ghostbusters Proton Pack so I’m writing from the comfort of my sofa. (LOVE that.)
Olaf says that the bear is ‘uniformly packed’ which I’m taking as a compliment from resident science guy. (It is, indeed stuffed well which results in an overall even, nice squishiness.)
Here it is before the face was put on:

And after:

I’m so pleased with this project. It was a very satisfying knit. The finishing was some of the easiest I have ever done considering it is a stuffed animal. The ears practically knat themselves. The duplicate stitch, it would seem, helps to distinguish the head from the torso. The head is still considerable in size but not detracting from the overall cuteness. Fox says it looks like a kindergartener (big melon, teensy body.) I used some nice yarn (surprised?) for the embroidery- some of the leftover Silkroad in Licorice from Jeff’s Jughead Hat. It has some pretty little flecks of blue and purple in it- slightly more interesting than just ‘black’.
As I was not certain of the color scheme of the bedroom, I just used a pretty white ribbon to finish it off. I’m happy.
And, consequently sleepy.
Goodnight.

I’m on a roll. Here is the finished ‘Jughead’ hat.

It came out really cute- as is its owner. You can’t see the points really well in this photo, I’ll try to take some better pictures later. He wore this hat around the house for like an hour last night. Crazy man. Its 100 freakin’ degrees outside!
Somebody must love me lots. And it barely mussed his ‘do.

I would be lying if I said I wasn’t the least bit excited that THE last Harry Potter book and THE newest Potter movie were both coming out this month. I’m just wild about Harry. (DR Boy doesn’t get this fascination at ALL, and you would think that he would being the professional magician and all. sigh.)
Apparently, if I said I was on a total knitting hiatus, that would be a lie too, because I managed to finish this over the weekend:

A Harry Potter Necktie!
No, it was not from Charmed Knits: Projects for the Fans of Harry Potter (which I do own by the way.) I did however manage to muddle (hee hee, that sounds like muggle) my way through this hipscarf for my friend Fox:

Yes, those ARE Gryffindor colors, baby! I had to weave in about a million ends, but the stripey effect was well worth the effort. Both were made with good ol’ Cascade 220. The necktie pattern was stumbled across somewhere online. I will be donning the tie (and my old black graduation robe which is finally coming in handy) at some event that I’ll be working next week in celebration of — the movie? — the book? I just don’t know, but I’m excited about both so woo-hoo.
Yes, I’ll be the oldest English schoolgirl on the planet.
Bite me.

Drum roll please- I’ve finished an easy hat! AND I have the pictures to prove it!

My gentleman friend and I are currently working on costumes based on the movie “The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou” for us to wear at DragonCon. (I thought I might like to call him my gentleman friend until I figure out what I prefer. Boyfriend is blah. Besides, gentleman friend is what the little old ladies at my grandmother’s fancy retirement community call their boyfriends because the term boyfriend sounds really silly when applied to an 80 year old man. I thought I’d borrow the endearment and try it on for a little while.)
Well, anyways, the specifics of the project: The yarn is basic, boring Red Heart, but the result gets the point across. Seafarer beanie in red? DONE! Now, I only need to make 3 more. These costumes will actually be fun to wear as they will not be binding, nor will they require any makeup, mask, helmet or prop and we can wear tennis shoes!
Next Up: Another “Amanda’s Squatty Sidekick.” I know. I’m on my third in as many weeks. I really don’t know what is wrong with me. I also am working on have started and placed in a ziploc buried in a basket- a Rowan Tumbling Blocks Pillow in Intarsia (why? because I I’m a bit of a masochist? Probably, but more so I just feel like I should) and I the dreaded baby socks – I should probably finish before the baby gets too big, so I guess I’m just making felted bags because they make me smile, to procrastinate, to have that fresh-finished-feeling every day and if I mess them up it really doesn’t matter in the end.
Teaser: Now, guess what I’m making with these? (Sssssssssh. A special surprise for Jack’s 30th Birthday next week! More progress photos to come.)
