I don’t normally blog from work, being a professional, I can’t condone the activity on company time. However, I must briefly make an exception to post this for my beautiful mother, a great big THANK YOU!
On my way in to work this morning, I checked my mail for probably the first time in a few days. Catalog, catalog, blech- a bill, and a something squishy. Something squishy from my Momma. My mind started to race, this is something knitted. I tore open the envelope in a hurry and found this:
A knit headband to keep my ears warm, made for ME! I’m beside myself. I just can’t get over how soft and wonderful it is. And the pattern is really pretty- her stitches are perfect, I’m both proud and overjoyed that she is doing so well and enjoying knitting as much as I do. I love it, I really, really do! I think that this is the first knitted gift I’ve ever received. I’ve given many, many items away, I’ve made many more for myself, but I think, and I hope I’m not mistaken, but this is the first honest to God gift of knitwear made by someone lovingly for moi. And doubly sweet being made for me by the very woman that brought me into this world.
Knitwear received might just be sweeter than knitwear made for oneself. I hope this cold weather lasts forever so I can wear my headband again and again. I love you Momma!
UPDATE:
The pattern can be found here at Paradise Fibers. She purchased the pattern from the LYS here in Gainesvegas that went out of business last fall. It is a double stranded pattern, she substituted a superwash sock yarn she bought at Cast On Cottage last month.
