I finished the ogre hat last night that I started at the Christmas SNB party yesterday.

I made it for a special little boy, and no it wasn’t this one:

I’ve been wanting to make a “Shrek” hat forever. Scouring the internet for a pattern, I finally decided that I could make one up using my very own brains. It is a tad on the big side for the boy in question (he is but four years old) but it has a roll brim so the fit will probably be forgiving (room to grow more brains and not outgrow the hat…)  It is stretched to capacity on my reluctant model above. I started the hat in a perfect booger-green washable wool. Yum, yum, yummy. Unfortunately there wasn’t enough yarn on the ball and the place I purchased said yarn went out of business and I didn’t want to go searching all over the internets for one freakin’ ball of yarn, so this incarnation of the ogre hat is made of ass-crylic yarn from Wal-mart in a slightly less boogery shade of green. But, you guys know my theory regarding clothing items knit for chillens- kids are dirty, acrylic is fine. I’m particularly proud of the little antennae. I dreamed how to do that part and I am pleased that they look like they are supposed to- very Shrek-like. I just may get a wild hair up my ass to type up this pattern for this little hat and share it with the world!

Merry Holidays!
