So, there is a new start-up local newspaper my place of employment is to be featured in. We received a copy of our article yesterday and to put it delicately, it totally reeked. Full of grammatical errors, tense issues and worse- typos- made my skin crawl. It didn’t even read well from a linear perspective, jumping around in time enough to make you motion sick. So, naturally, I fixed rewrote it.

Well, the editor just asked me if I’d be interested in proofing articles in my spare (snort) time. Only 10-12 short articles every 2 weeks or so.

I told him I would have to think about it, my ’spare’ time is crucial knitting time, however, with the new computer at home it certainly would be convenient, not to mention the fact that any extra money could potentially enhance my future fiber acquisitions.

Hmmm. I could be a hero of sorts- helping to rid the world of bad grammar and punctuation errors one small newspaper at a time.

I think I’ve made my decision, however, I don’t want him to think I’m ‘easy’. I’ll call him tomorrow with my response.

This wouldn’t be for the Coffee News, would it? You know my feelings on them, damn it!

Spazzmanda Says:

No- Not Coffee News. As we discussed last week, I don’t think there is much by way of ‘content’ in the publication. Mostly ads and bland factoids, right? And nothing at all about coffee, what’s up with that?

Janet Says:

Oh! Please do it! You would be doing the world a favor by ridding it of more horrible grammar. Seriously!

Jenny Says:

Now that you have a computer, check out Grammer Girl Podcast.

Great, now I’ll have to be careful what I type around you! ;)
