I would be lying if I said I wasn’t the least bit excited that THE last Harry Potter book and THE newest Potter movie were both coming out this month. I’m just wild about Harry. (DR Boy doesn’t get this fascination at ALL, and you would think that he would being the professional magician and all. sigh.)

Apparently, if I said I was on a total knitting hiatus, that would be a lie too, because I managed to finish this over the weekend:

Harry Potter Tie

A Harry Potter Necktie!

No, it was not from Charmed Knits: Projects for the Fans of Harry Potter (which I do own by the way.) I did however manage to muddle (hee hee, that sounds like muggle) my way through this hipscarf for my friend Fox:

Yes, those ARE Gryffindor colors, baby! I had to weave in about a million ends, but the stripey effect was well worth the effort. Both were made with good ol’ Cascade 220. The necktie pattern was stumbled across somewhere online. I will be donning the tie (and my old black graduation robe which is finally coming in handy) at some event that I’ll be working next week in celebration of — the movie? — the book? I just don’t know, but I’m excited about both so woo-hoo.

Yes, I’ll be the oldest English schoolgirl on the planet.

Bite me.

Olaf Gradin Says:

DR Boy doesn’t like Harry Potter because it emasculates him. Hero children conflict with his ideas of heroism. I guess I just remember being a child and having the idea that I could be a hero to anyone. I do draw a line, however. “Chucky” does not get the extension of my respect for hero children.

Spazzmanda Says:

I do think we have lightly touched on this topic in the past- he had the same very issue with the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe- hero children aren’t feasible for him even in the realm where people fly and animals talk. But sure, a super-geeky boy can get bitten by a radioactive spider and suddenly be a stud, THAT could happen.
